Our Programmes
The Regional Vine and Wine Chamber Trakia is a major promoter for many various programmes dealing with the continued development of agriculture, the wine industry and wine tourism.
Below is a list of the programmes currently being promoted by the chamber and its affiliates:
Development of the South Central Region through the Development of Tourism
Working in collaboration with national agencies for the creation of 9 Bulgarian Roads of Wine, the RVWC TRAKIA will strive to deliver a functioning model for rural and region development through tourism and touristic related business activities.
A thematic focus on Wine Tourism will provide an attractive structuring basis for the organisation and development of touristic resources within the associated micro-regions while strong administrational and marketing directives will act as a driver for multi-level business and product promotions.
Market segments will include both local and foreign tourists with a dedicated focus on the development of organised tour and travel packages for a broad range of customer types. These packages will represent the results of touristic resource development and implementation strategies and will provide for economic growth for individual businesses, local communities and the overall road of wine regions.
Given the delivery of the intended company directives, the road of wine project could achieve full potential in as little as 5 years with sustainability achieved from yearly business membership fees, commissions on customers activities and the direct sales of products and services.

PROCEDURE FOR THE CREATION OF SMALL WINERIES
For more than three years, the RVWC “Trakia” has been working on promoting the idea of uniting efforts of manufacturers of wine products from small and medium scale enterprises to seek attractive realization of their production and to motivate their efforts and reduce costs.
Numerous contacts with representatives of national and local authorities, industry stakeholders and NGO community, with professionals working directly in the field were organised to familiarise the public with the project. There were several media events, resulting in the Roads of Wine highlighted in the press and electronic media. Projects were developed under EU programs to promote Bulgarian wines. Offers from companies experienced in the production of technological equipment were requested for wine and the possibilities and the economic benefit of the modular design and implementation of projects for small wineries were explored. Contacts were established with prominent figures in the management of tourism in the country, starting from the belief that our industry can find the best development only as an integral part of the national strategy for the management and prospects of the tourism industry.
In view of the significantly increased political activity of the new Government of the Republic of Bulgaria the chances for realization of our project has substantially increased.
RVWC “Trakia” was established an expert group which has the main task to run the projects and directly support their inclusion in the initiative.
The aim of the "The Road of Wine" clusters is to bring together vineyards and small winery owners to support their work on improving their wineries, include them in the appropriate road of wine business cluster, and assist them in the realization of their production. It is known that wine tourism is far more profitable in the wine industry, as visitors purchase higher value products directly from the producer. This will also ensure a high and consistent quality of wine offered providing a more impressive setting in the reception of his cellar. In parallel to wine tourism, strategies include the production of limited series of boutique wines targeted to foreign markets. After extensive research, it was determined that the following conditions are necessary for a sustainable investmentl:
- The applicant has access or ownership of between 20 and 100 dekares vineyards
- Have their own funds in the amount of 20% of the project cost, which will be used for licenses, permits, design, construction permits and land status changes if necessary.
- STEPS THAT THE APPLICANT HAS TO TAKE TO CREATE A SMALL WINERY:
- Application for inclusion in the “Road of Wine” cluster and membership in the RVWC “Trakia”.
- Providing land for the construction of a small winery and changing the status of the land if necessary.
- Selection of parameters for architectural design and equipment.
- Specifying the conditions for financing with the appropriate bank or financing institute.
- Selection of a qualified oenologist, recognised by Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism.
- Preparation of a business plan for EU funds for rural development (measure 121,123 and 312).
- Approval of the business plan by the State Fund for Agriculture.
To help investors of small wineries, RVWC "Trakia" offers advice and consultation of experts under the leadership of the President of the chamber, Mr. Konstantin Madjarov.
